Chemical process improvement

The synthesis, formulation of industrial use of chemical products involves several of the following challenges: undesirable by-products, solvent recovery, waste treatment, energy transfer, hazardous reaction conditions, etc. Chemical process improvement techniques can be used to solve these problems.

The reader will learn about RECP benchmarks for different chemical subsectors and how improvements can be achieved by applying good practices in the manufacturing of chemicals for typical process steps such as synthesis, separation, etc. The reader will also learn techniques for reducing VOC emissions in cleaning processes through substitution of abatement techniques, as well as how to reduce product waste and save costs with pigging and cleaning-in-place technologies.
